Budweiser, Yeah I'm Going There!

The self procalimed "King of Beers"! Give me a fucking break, are you kiding me? What Anheiser Busch is is the "King of Quality Control." Truth be told, I think it is a shitty product. But it's consistantly shitty no matter where you are in the world.
I went to the Giants game last night. Close to my seat was a consession stand that only had Budweiser. Normally I would have walked farther for a better product. Frankly I was in a shitty mood and took the easy way out.

Downtown Brown

At the grocery store tonight I spotted Downtown Brown. The first time that I had this wonderful brown ale was about fifteen years ago while on a road trip up the California Coast. It is made my the Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka Ca. A friend of mine was attend college in the area. During my visit he took me to the brewery for lunch. I have loved this beer ever since that visit. Downtown Brown is a wonderful dark ale that in spite of it's full heavy flavor maintains a pleasant sweetness that many dark beers lose. I love this brew not just for its flavor and strength, but for all of the great memories that it brings back. Enjoy!

La cerveza mexicana Extraviganza!!!

Yes, we have arrived. It is the fifth of May. Due to an extreme lack of time, I was forced to condense my ratings of Mexican beer to a weekend binge. I purchased a Mexican Beer Sampler at Costco. This I thought would allow me to rate a cross section of popular cerveza. My theory was seriously flawed. I learned that it is impossible to be objective when consuming large quantities of different brews. There comes a point, I learned, when it all starts tasting the same. Eventually you also just plain forget what you were drinking anyway. Look folks, I drank enough that at some point warm goat piss would have received pretty high marks. So, in the future only one (maybe two) beer(s) will be rated at one time. So here is the condensed rating of the Costco Mexican Beer Sampler.
Tecate': Good taste but overall pretty weak.
XX light: Heineken in Spanish.
Sol: Corona without the advertising
XX Dark: The best of the four. Right up there with Modelo Negra.
Until next week. . .now if you'll excuse me I need two Tylenol, two litre's of auga, a bowl of Wheaties, and 12 hours of sleep

Corona Extra.
- Fruit does not belong in beer.
- Alcohol free beer is not beer, It's colored water.
But with that being said, It's one of my least favorite grain based libations. Please don't get me wrong. If I am offered a Corona, I accept. If I'm asked to buy a Corona, I decline. You may be asking "why Jake, why are you so hard on my beloved Corona Extra?" Well I'll tell you. . .
- It's not the taste. . .I actually enjoy the taste of Corona.
- It's not the smell. . .Some beer in fact smells like putrid camel sweat. But that's for the Michelob review. Corona is pleasant to the olfactory senses.
- It does not lack alcohol content. I've had many a good drunk on this little treasure.
So, here is what it comes down to. I dislike Corona Extra for one reason and one reason alone.
The worst morning after beer shits. I'll leave it at that.
Happy Weekend.

Modelo Negra

Translation:
In order to recognized Cinco de Mayo I will be sampling Mexican Beers this week. The first installment is Negra Modelo. Now I normally prefer my dark beer to be "dark beer". I call this more of an "amber". The beer is nice and smooth. The down side is that it is not very strong. Giving credit where credit is due, it is my favorite Mexican beer. I had several last night accompanied with some screaming fish tacos.
